  • Governments of the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Korea established diplomatic relations on November 1st, 1989. The Korean Embassy in Warsaw started operating on November 27th, 1989, while the Polish Embassy in Seoul was opened on December 1st, 1989. In September 2005 the Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Poland was established in Daegu.

     

    In October 2013 President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski and President of the Republic of Korea Park Geun-hye decided to elevate the bilateral relations to the level of the strategic partnership. In 2019 both countries will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations.  

     

    Poland has been engaged in the security issues of the Korean Peninsula for more than 60 years through the membership in the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission, which was established in 1953 to supervise the observance of the armistice agreement after the Korean War.
