The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Poland welcomes the outcome of the inter-Korean summit which took place in Pyongyang on 18-20 September 2018 with the participation of Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Moon Jae-in, President of the Republic of Korea.

It was the third time this year, and the fifth time ever, that the leaders of both Korean states had met. The summit is another important element in the process of inter-Korean reconciliation, and offers proof of active steps being taken by the sides to improve relations, and build peace and trust in the region. We hope that the summit’s arrangements will contribute to a genuine progress in the process of denuclearizing the Peninsula.

As a member of the UN Security Council and the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission in Korea, and one of the few countries to maintain diplomatic missions in both Pyongyang and Seoul, Poland has been closely following developments in the region, and consistently supports all initiatives that could help to enhance security on the Korean Peninsula and in the region at large.
